Pamela Anderson is glamorous again: first collaboration with Smashbox Cosmetics

A look back at the quintessential ’90s style is sure to remind you of Pamela Anderson. Known for her legendary Playboy covers and her performance in Baywatch, the now 56-year-old model and actress represents what we deeply love about the ’90s – the nude eyebrows, voluminous bangs, nude lips and more.

In recent months, Anderson has been in the news for her public nude makeup appearances, which prompted her to launch her own skincare brand, Sonsie, but now the superstar is going back to her glamorous roots thanks to a nostalgic collaborative ad campaign with Smashbox Cosmetics.

Smashbox X Pamela Anderson: Anderson’s first collaboration with the brand
While Pamela Anderson can do anything in our minds, she’s never endorsed a major cosmetics campaign before. As Anderson explained to Harper’s Bazaar, the collaboration, photographed by Davis Fiennes, the founder of Smashbox and her longtime friend, is significant.

“Davis was my first photographer outside of Playboy. He met my mother in Roxbury, LA,” she told Harper’s Bazaar. She added: “I always have my reasons for doing things and it’s almost never about the product. Rather, it has to do with the relationship.

Regarding why Anderson said yes to a campaign featuring the brand’s best-selling Original Photo Finish Smooth & Blur Primer ($42) after turning down other makeup ad opportunities, it boils down to sustainability.” Anderson told Harper’s Bazaar, “My reasons for not doing ads in the past varied, but a lot of it had to do with sustainability. Anderson continued, “I used to ask people if the packaging was biodegradable, if it was cruelty-free, I asked all those questions. 30 years ago, people might have found me annoying, but now it’s a fad. But I like and respect Smashbox because they keep doing it.

In addition to the sustainability aspect, Anderson expressed her love for the brand and products as a whole.” I love the idea of primers because it separates you from your makeup. So I’m thinking about how to protect your skin and how to still use makeup as an extension and an expression, but not the most important thing.” All in all, Anderson described the collaboration to Harper’s Bazaar as a “well-rounded experience.” I don’t know about you, but I’m going to be marveling at these ad photos for the next few hours.
